It may already be quite evident, but traveling is my passion. I can just never get enough of seeing new places and experiencing a new country and new culture. I feel that individuals can possess unlimited knowledge of the world simply by immersing themselves in the culture.
Overview
One of my most memorable places that I have visited was Cozumel, Mexico. I have actually been to that location twice, but the most recent trip was the most memorable. I took a cruise with my mother and grandmother to celebrate my grandmother’s 73rd birthday. She shares my passion of traveling, so we thought it would be suitable to take a seven day Western Mediterranean cruise. I had been on many cruises before, but this one felt extra special.
The first port of call was Labadee, Haiti, which is a private resort area. We then went to Jamaica. While those places were sublime in their own right, Cozumel was extra special. We first went to a hotel resort, where there was a beautiful beach, pools, and relaxation. It was wonderful just to escape reality for just a few hours, and be in a state of serenity. There were also giant water toys, such as ropes and slides in the water. Some of the objects went really high up in the air and when I got to the stop, I just sat there and felt a great sense of relief. It was almost a metaphor for me, knowing that it is possible to make it to the top.
Senor Frogs
After hanging out at the resort for several hours, we went to Senor Frogs. It was very different to the chains here in America. It was a lot more edgy, which made it a lot of fun for our group. In fact, my Grandma said she had one of the best times of her recent days during that meal. All the waiters and waitresses were making her laugh, and we were all having loads of fun. The world cup was also on the television in the restaurant, and all the people were so passionate over it. It was wonderful to be apart of such unity and national spirit, even though I am not Mexican. As a result of seeing all of this, I have a whole new respect for people from Mexico. Sometimes, they can be stereotyped, but that is just because most people have not immersed themselves in their culture, like I have.
Summary of Blogs
I have had a very enjoyable time writing all these blogs about my travels. It may seem a bit cliché, but I have really learned a lot through writing this series of blogs. I have furthered both my blogging skills, and my general writing skills. Overall, this blog series had a very positive impact on me.
