The world and its treasures are something that has always interested me. Luckily, I have visited a lot of interesting sites across the globe. It is difficult to choose just one favorite trip, but one particular one was just extra special for me.
The Trip
In December of 2012, my mom and I traveled to London, England. I distinctly remember the flight being delayed 2 hours because of the tarmac being wet. I also remember it was a red-eye flight; so we flew through the night arrived the next morning. We got in a cab and headed to our hotel at Grosvenor Square. The weather wasn’t frigid, but there was definitely a chill in the air.
We were there through New Years and on New Years Eve and when the clock struck 12:00, I remember thinking how cool it was that it was 2013 where I was, and 2012 where my friends were. The highlight of my trip was going to watch my favorite soccer team play live.
My Best Memory
My mom took me to North London to watch Tottenham Hotspur play Reading F.C. I remember seeing the field of Tottenham Hotspur and being just amazed. I've followed the team my whole life and watched countless matches on television. It was just surreal to be there and see it all live. I remember the atmosphere and fans just absolutely putting American sports to shame. The stadium only holds about 36,000 people, but the atmosphere makes it seem like there are hundreds of thousands there. The final score was 3-1 in favor of Tottenham Hotspur. I was ecstatic that my team won while I was there to witness it firsthand.
During the other days of my trip, we visited all of the major sights in London. We saw all 6 major soccer teams’ stadiums in London, which was something that really fascinated me. I've watched the teams play there ever since I was little boy, and it was just incredible to actually see the stadiums live. We also saw the major palaces in and around London. However, my favorite part of the trip aside from the soccer game was simply walking the streets figuring out how to navigate the city. I just loved immersing myself in the culture, and truly experiencing London firsthand. For example we had to figure out which Tube stop to get off and how to navigate to get to Buckingham Palace.
Overall my trip to London was once in a lifetime and I cannot wait until I get the opportunity to go back again. I will never get enough of the city and will always be enthralled by its wonders and culture.
