Challenges
This quarter in English, and all of my classes for that matter, have seen a considerable increase in workload. Also, with my basketball season hitting its peak with practices and games, remembering to complete assignments was quite a task. In the beginning of the quarter, I failed to write down due dates, and relied on memorizing them. After that caused lots of stress on me, I decided that it would be best to write down on a calendar. As a result of doing this, I was relieved of much stress. However, I still had to actually complete the assignments, which turned into late nights after getting home at around 9pm each night. Despite that, I still managed to complete the assignments, and with great quality.
Another thing this quarter in which was a substantial challenge was Shakespeare. Ever since we started studying Shakespeare in 9th grade, it has always been something that I am not too fond of. When I originally heard that we were studying Shakespeare, my initial reaction was a little bit dull and I was not overly excited. However, I thought that I should be able to focus on it and really embrace it. It turned out that by doing this, I actually enjoyed the Shakespeare, and as a result, have a new outlook on it.
Accomplishments
I feel like one of my major accomplishments this quarter was the mock trial. I was a little but skeptical at first because I was not sure what to expect from it. I volunteered to be a jury member as I thought that would allow me to observe and make a decision off of the action in the court. During the mock trial, I really got into the whole trial and truly felt like I was juror. When I conferred with my fellow jurors, it felt really great to come to a verdict. As a result, I felt as if I gave 100% effort in the trial, which produced a fair verdict in the end.
Most Proud
I am most proud of the way I remembered to complete Membean each week. Last semester I was a bit lackadaisical in my approach towards it. This semester, I was going to make a concerned effort to really schedule out a plan to complete it each week. I followed Mrs. Youngblood’s plans and I do it every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This way, I don’t have to cram before it is due.
